Enterprise IT Gets Simpler with B2B Applications

With all things “Big” leading the news in data and search, it is refreshing to know that enterprise IT is heading the way of simplification. We learn in “Keep it Simple: Enterprise App Simplification and Our Investment in FieldLens” on Forbes about High Peaks’ recent investment of FieldLens.

FieldLens is a construction management product which uses network effects of jobsites, organizations, and people to simplify the construction process. This is just one example of how the landscape of business-to-business is beginning to center around fundamentals and simplicity.

We learn in the article:

One very attractive element of Simplification businesses is that they are so easy to use and thus, easy to adopt. As we’ve seen with Simplification leaders like Dropbox and Google Apps, these applications have a remarkable way of starting out being adopted by individuals or small groups within an enterprise. Frequently their use is free, or at least dirt cheap, in these smaller use cases. But then as their usage proliferates within an organization, it makes sense to bring in some control and standardization, and enterprise sales opportunities open up.

Effectively implementing b2b models requires efficiency and collaboration. It also requires data enrichment, which can be gained from an information access platform such as PolySpot. As enterprise IT moves in the direction of smaller and simpler, a Big Data solution is needed to help wade through the madness.
