Data Integration Aids Machine To Machine Communication in the Enterprise

Connecting communication between people on mobile devices with traditional enterprise technologies has been at the forefront of the enterprise mobility scene. SAP works to steer the conversation to M2M (machine-to-machine) communications as per the SYS-CON article, "SAP Enterprise Mobility and M2M in Your Company."

In essence, the core of M2M assumes that there are machines, sensors and vehicles in which a company sees benefit in collecting and extracting data from. This could include automatic monitoring data and more.

According to the article, M2M data is similar to the data that would come in on a smartphone:

The data from a Yes or No answer on a smartphone app, looks just like M2M data reporting the gate is open in yard #3. IT departments need to ensure the data is secure and accurate. They need to monitor and track all of their M2M technologies and wireless embedded chips to ensure they are working properly and the data is good. This data needs to be integrated with the right systems.  The systems need to understand what to do with it.

If this pans out to be a mainstay operation for enterprises, then data integration solutions will be even more of an imperative technology for investment.
