Large-scale and High-end Hardware Deemed Unnecessary for Most Business Intelligence Needs
The amount of data information management solutions can store, process, and analyze is one factor, but for the elite few companies that need fancy hardware specifically designed to do everything BI does when fractions of seconds mean millions of dollars. The GigaOM article "Supercomputer Vet Cray Wants to Turn Big Data into Fast Data" reveals their insights about this new machine.
YarcData, a division of Cray is behind this venture. They will develop parallel-processing systems with the capacity for a great magnitude of data ready to offer intelligence on data streaming in real-time.
This type of system could be very valuable for organizations such as banks and intelligence agencies that want to run big data workloads as fast as possible — even process streaming data in real time– and the deep pockets to pay for Cray’s presumably pricey systems.
Of course, there is a slew of other companies in line with the same hardware to be paired with big data analytics. Hopefully most businesses looking for insights will save their money and invest in a program sure to provide a return on their investment. Scalable information mangament solutions are the best fit for the average business, even in the banking and financial industries for the most part.
