Business Intelligence on Mobile is Possible Only with Agile Infrastructure

When developing a strategy for technological pieces to bring to the table for business growth, mobile has obviously been a hot topic. The question remains, which tools need to be on executives tablets? IBM throws a little information on the subject at us in the video dubbed, "Business Intelligence on a Mobile Device is a Must-Have Feature." This short 14 minute video brings to light an expert's perspective on business intelligence for mobile.

Scott Laningham hosts the conversation and speaks with Nicolas Leduc, a Product Manager for IBM Cognos Mobile. He prefaces the dialogue by sharing the facts that 1.2 billion smart phones will enter the market over the next five years. That amounts to 40% of all handset shipments.

Watch the video for more information, but here is a quick summary:

Leduc explains how critical it is becoming for decision makers to be able to access business intelligence dashboards and reports on their mobile devices. Nicolas also explains how mobile business intelligence applications can make use of specific mobile device characteristics, like its location-awareness, to deliver more tailored reports.

It is important to note that business intelligence is becoming increasingly sought after for near real-time decisions to be made wisely and effectively. More importantly, the component that ties together this ability with the mobile technology is none other than an agile enterprise infrastructure.
