Generation Y Employees Require Next-Generation Enterprise Software

Everyone connected to the new generation of employees knows that they are a different breed than any seen before. With their smart phones permanently connected and lives broadcasted on Facebook the new recruit is changing the workplace with their demands and priorities. The infographic, The Next Generation’s Work Expectations, on All Top shows how many things matter more to young adults than the number of zeros in their salary.

The infographic details the results of a study conducted by Cisco of young adults entering the professional workplace. The results, not surprisingly, showed that that the vast majority valued the ability to access social media at work over the salary offered.

Also discovered in the survey is the changing attitude over workplace. Over half of those interviewed wanted the ability to work remotely with access to company information from their home computer or personal device.

To summarize, the infographic reported:

The majority of college students and young professionals value social media access, device freedom and a mobile work style as much or more than money.

With the majority of young professionals making these demands it’s only a matter of time before businesses comply. That makes the need for efficient and intuitive enterprise applications a necessity. The necessity for companies to implement user-centered software that employees enjoy using is integral to their success.
