Finding the Best Business Solution for Your Buck Requires Critical Thinking Amidst This “Research”

MarketWatch released the news report “ESG Survey Reveals Two out of Three Enterprises Use SharePoint as Business Critical Application,” which simply beckons for a critical read. The new whitepaper from Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) supposedly reveals that SharePoint management should be an investment priority.

The evidence lies in ESG’s survey which found the following result:

80 percent [of IT professionals] have ranked it as one of their top ten business applications.

Might I add that, according to the research reported in this Search Engine Journal article, a large percentage of people were still using search engines like Bing and Yahoo, even though there are superior options available. The point is that when free services are offered, whether they are online search engines or software applications, people will not always be educated enough to make the right choice.

Of course, software is extremely different than search engines because many people actually pay for quality applications. For SharePoint’s competitors, it is a matter of who provides the most bang for the buck. Yes, it is true that some take advantage of the fact that people will pay good money. However there are some companies, such as PolySpot, that don’t just deliver an invoice. These companies actually empower business professionals to make decisions about their infrastructure, in addition to enriching it with apps.
